I don't think so - Twitter's not just a fickle place to chat. Lots of the time news is broken there. Here in Australia it's starting to be used as an important media tool. During the Black Saturday bushfires, people used Twitter to communicate a lot of information.
We have Twitter accounts for work and it's a great way of getting feedback and encouraging younger people to tune in.
