I just have one question

Is it still spam posting when you've been away for say, a day and reading back through what has been posted in your absenceand replying with your opinions on what people have said/answering questions etc as long as you stop posting once you reach the end of the thread?

That doesnt sound quite right when I read it...

I don't really understand what you mean... if you post more than 5 times in a row, it's spam.

he means, if you're answering a question or if you're talking to someone or if you're quoting someone to answer a question (in TPT for example if someone asks you how you are then another person asks what you've been up to etc.) and you're answering their question would it be spam (atleast I think thats what he means)

Well no, because TPT doesn't have an actual topic.

There's more information on the spam rules here.

Kinda

Say, if you're reading back over 15 pages of posts, and you quote and reply to questions that have been posted before, and you post more than 5 in a row whilst no-ones around, does that still count as spam since its part of the discussion and not post-flooding?

Its really difficult to word

Posting more than 5 times in a row is spam. That's that.

Open two windows, copy/paste all quote replies into one reply and there you go. Though you might have to disable smilies as there's a 10 smilie limit.

Seeing as though pointless posts and replies are something of a COL tradition would it be an option to set a forum with the permissions set so that the posts in there don't count towards a user's overall post count? I know this is possible in the forum permissions, I'm asking would it be worth making a forum/sub-forum exclusively for these kinds of posts?

This way users can post consecutively to their heart's content, just as they used to do on the old forum, and the user title ranks stay the same for everybody as these posts won't exist in this context. No rank cheating is possible so everybody's happy (I'm assuming the ranks are the reason why you don't wish to allow more than 5 posts).

I know from my TPT days that quite a few people like to post lots (consecutively) when they're bored etc, however silly this might seem to others, so I thought it might be an idea

Does that mean posting more than five times in one thread? Are we allowed to post in every thread as long as we don't post more than five times in each separate thread?
The MB's I am at have different rules, see, so forgive me if I seem a little confused.
