Chapter 6
Hanna could feel Sharons’ hostility, thanked Caroline, kissed Jack and Gina goodbye and left for McManus.
“What was she doing here?” Sharon wanted to know.
“I invited her over tea and got the house cleaned in the meantime,” Caroline smiled happily.
“This place is spotless,” Sharon commented, feeling even more resentful towards the young woman and feeling guilty. Why didn’t you offer to help her you eejit! She scolded at herself.
“So you’ve been seeing her then?”
“Sharon take that tone out of your voice, you sound as if I’ve been cheating or something,” Caroline was surprised and confused, why on earth did Sharon hold such a grudge against Hanna? Sharon stayed for a while but it was evident that she was unhappy with the fact that Hanna had been there. Caroline said goodbye and when she closed the door she was worried, Sharon was such a force, if anybody was going to make Hanna go away, it would be her. Unable to comprehend why Sharon was being so hostile she went to the kitchen and started to cook dinner for herself and the children, she missed Hannas’ company already.

“She did what?” Andrea asked outraged at the other end.
“You heard me, she was ironing Franks clothes, bloody kiss as!” Sharon muttered.
“Well what did Caroline say?”
“What do you think, she’s just had the entire house cleaned, she’s overjoyed.”
“This is bad, I don’t want her around, she made daddy cheat on mammy.” Both of them were too upset to see the unfairness in that opinion.
“Exactly, I mean, if she just wanted to see dad, well now she’s seen him, so now she can go home to wherever the heck she came from.”
“I want things to be as they were,” Andrea moaned and Sharons’ heart went out to her little sister, Andrea had never taken well to change especially not this type of change.
“It will be fine,” she comforted, “soon she’ll go home and all will be back to normal again.”
“D’you think?”
“Absolutely,” Sharon said sounding more sure than she really was.
“Ok, I love you.”
“I love you to pup.”
“Bye.”
“Bye,” Sharon hung up and her eyes fell on the picture of her mother hanging in the hallway.
“Don’t worry mammy, I’ll protect them.”
“Against what?” A surprised voice asked behind her.
“Against Hanna, Gavin.”
“Why, has she done something bad?” Gavin was confused, Sharon had been acting strange ever since Hanna came.
“Other than showing up here I don’t know and I don’t care, she’s upsetting the others and I want her out of here.” Gavin pulled a hand trough his hair, this was bad, he had never seen Sharon behave like this and it worried him.
“Look honey,” he said pulling her into a hug that she barely returned, “I know it’s confusing that she has come but I really don’t think you have anything to worry about. Hanna seems a very sweet kid and about that at Carolines’ today, I’m sure she just wanted to help out and Caroline needs help doesn’t she?”
“Are you saying I’ve neglected my little-sister?” Sharon said looking at him angrily.
“No God, of course not, is that how you feel, it that why you’re so upset?” Tears rose in her eyes and she buried her face in his shirt.
“I don’t know,” she sniffed, “I just don’t like her being here.” Gavin held her but realised he wouldn’t get any furhter with the conversation.
“Let’s go to bed, it’s late.” She nodded silently and followed him upstairs.

Chapter 7
Andrea detested Wednesdays, it was a long ‘in between day’ kind of thing and she didn’t like it at all.
“Morning darlin’,” Shaun said happily when she walked in the kitchen.
“What are you so happy about?” She asked trying to keep her mood under control. He shot a long glance at her, shamelessly disrobing her with his eyes.
“Shaun!” She squelled and blushed, “I thought you saw it all last night?!”
“Nothing like a little fantasy to light up my morning,” he grinned widely.
“What are you up to today bumblebee?” He asked reaching for another toast and putting it in her hand.
“I thought I’d go see Caroline, I need to talk to her about Hanna.” Shauns’ face fell dark.
“Are you going to start something?” He asked not looking happy at all.
“What? What do you mean?”
“I mean you’ve been very tense since she came and despite that she’s been nothing but a sweetheart. I just hope you’re not going to take out misdirected aggravations at her that’s all.”
“And what if I did, she deserves it!” Andrea said taken back by his total lack of loyalty towards her.
“No she doesn’t, hate to say it love but at this point we completely disagree.” He said kissing her temple and getting up to get to work. Am I wrong, is this really about me and not about Hanna?, She finished the toast, got dressed and headed out for Carolines’.

When Andrea walked up to Carolines’ door she could hear music from inside, Caroline on her Bodh-rán and Sharon on her violin. She smiled, it had been a while since they played together, that would sheer her up. Then she stopped, Sharons' car wasn’t parked outside and that didn’t sound like her violin. A loud, soft laugh reached through the door and Andrea crinched, it wasn’t Sharon inside, it was Hanna. Feeling angry and pushed aside Andrea didn’t even knock, instead she turned on her heel and headed for Jims’.

“Hey pup, what’s wrong?” Jim asked when he opened the door and saw the upset look on Andreas face. She stepped inside without a word, waved to Gayle in the kitchen and walked in to Jims’ lounge room. Too upset to sit she stood in the middle of the floor, hands at her hips, staring blankly in to thin air, Jim approached her carefully.
“What’s wrong?” he asked stepping up behind her and laying a hand on her shoulder, she was trembling.
“I went by Carolines’ this morning.”
“Oh?”
“Hanna was there”
“Oh,” now he understood why she was so upset. Andrea wiped a tear from her eye more of anger than sadness.
“She was there yesterday to, Sharon ran into her.” Jim frowned.
“So what, Hanna and Caroline are suddenly best buddies?”
“I don’t know!” Andrea blurted, now crying, she turned to face her big brother, she wanted him to protect her against this new and threatening thing. Jim was also uncertain, he didn’t like Hanna, he didn’t dislike her either, he just wanted her to go away so that they could get on with their lives. He pulled his little sister into a hug.
“It’s going to be alright, just give it a couple of days, she’ll grow tired, realise she doesn’t belong here and fly back home,” he reassured her.
“Think so?” She sniffed into his shirt.
“Yeah, I do.”
“Thanks Jim.”
“Anytime pup.”
